SIR pushing BLOs into suicides; revenue clerk takes own life for not getting leave for wedding; education department clerk consumes poison
NEW DELHI: Two people committed suicide in Uttar Pradesh due to stress related to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work.
A 25-year-old revenue clerk (lekhpal), Sudhir Kumar Kori (25), a native of Fatehpur, committed suicide. The family alleged that he chose to end his life due to the stress of his SIR work. Sudhir was supposed to get married to a woman named Kajal from Sitapur village on Wednesday. Haldi and Mehndi celebrations began, and relatives gathered for the celebrations. However, the kanungo (revenue inspector) did not give Sudhir leave for the wedding. The family also says that he was threatened with losing his job. Sudhir was suspended for a day on Monday. The suicide occurred in the meantime. The district collector said that a detailed investigation will be conducted on the complaint of Sudhir's relatives and appropriate action will be taken.
Vipin Yadav, a BLO, was found dead after consuming poison in Gonda, UP. Vipin Yadav, an employee of the education department, was found poisoned on Tuesday morning. He was taken to the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Center but could not be saved. The incident took place within the Tarabganj tehsil limits. His wife Seema Yadav had released a video alleging that Tarabganj SDM, Nawabganj BDO and Lekhpal had harassed Vipin. The district administration, which denied the allegations, said that the cause of death was stress due to family problems.
