"Our love won and my father and brothers lost": Defiant girlfriend 'marries' corpse at funeral after father and brothers kill her boyfriend
MUMBAI: Girlfriend applies vermilion on her forehead and announces that she has married her boyfriend, during his funeral. Aanchal said that she would stay at her lover's house as his wife for the rest of her life. Aanchal's family killed 20-year-old Saksham Tate on Thursday. The murder over intercaste love took place in Nanded, Maharashtra. The man was killed by his lover's brothers and father, who opposed their relationship. Saksham Tate was beaten up, shot and his head was crushed with a stone by Aanchal's family.
Police said Saksham Tate and Aanchal 's brother Himesh Mamidwar got into a fight on Thursday evening while Saksham was with his friends in the Old Ganj area. Himesh opened fire on Saksham, the bullet penetrating his ribs and then bludgeoned him with a tile, causing his death. Himesh, his brother Sahil and his father Gajanan Mamidwar were immediately arrested.
Aanchal had been in love with Saksham Tate for three years, ever since he started visiting her brothers regularly. The woman's family opposed the relationship, citing caste differences, but the two refused to back down. The woman's family killed Saksham Tate on Thursday after learning that the two were going to get married. The woman had arrived at Saksham Tate's house while his funeral was taking place. The woman, who announced that she had married Saksham Tate's body, demanded the death penalty for the murderers. 'Our love won, even in Saksham's death, and my father and brothers lost,' said Aanchal. Police have arrested six accused in the incident.
