'Thiruvananthapuram or Ooty? Don't know what is happening'

Citizens of the capital city had a tough time recognising their hometown following the unusual dip in temperatures in the city on Friday and Saturday. It was not characteristic of Thiruvananthapuram to entertain foggy and chill weather akin to hill spot avenues.

Even without rain, the climate in most locations in the heart of the capital city and the outskirts was chill and foggy. The shock over the weather pattern soon became the talking matter on social media as Instagram became rife with reels showing the current state of the capital city.

The visuals of Thiruvananthapuram in those reels would easily fool anyone into wrongly guessing it as some sleepy town in North India.

Some hilarious comments for the reels showing the climate change in Thiruvananthapuram:

  • What is happening in Thiruvananthapuram? I came from Bengaluru for a visit to warm up, but it seemed I travelled all the way to be in Bengaluru again.

  • Such mist and cold during noon hours. Is this Thiruvananthapuram or Ooty?

  • I’m planning to buy a sweater tomorrow.

  • The Thiruvananthapuram nobody saw coming

However, sources from IMD said the big dip in temperature and the unusual change in weather patterns are aftereffects of the cyclone Ditwah that wreaked havoc in Sri Lanka. Ditwah reached the coastal terrain of Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu yesterday. The effect nearly reached its completion, and Thiruvananthapuram will get back to its old self from Monday, with the temperature expected to get back to normal. The misty weather was a welcome change for citizens of the capital city until it lasted.
