'Rahul continued the assault even when I had difficulty breathing'; complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil reveals shocking allegations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shocking details have emerged regarding the new complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The contents of the complaint submitted by the young woman to the Congress leadership have now come out. The woman alleges that she was subjected to severe physical assault by Rahul.

According to the complaint, Rahul called her to discuss “future matters, including marriage,” but once inside the room, he allegedly forced himself on her and raped her.

The woman states that after the assault, Rahul showed no remorse and asked her to change clothes quickly and leave the place. In the complaint, she alleges that Rahul Mamkootathil misused his political influence to deceive women and describes him as a “sexual predator.”

She also says that when Rahul earlier told her about marriage, she informed her family, but they did not initially agree. However, when Rahul became the State President of the Youth Congress, her family eventually gave their consent.

When she told Rahul that her family had agreed, he reportedly said he would bring his family as well. Later, when she came to her hometown, a friend picked her up, saying Rahul wanted to meet her. She alleges that she was taken in the vehicle of a friend named Fenni Ninan to a location outside the city. Afterwards, the friend allegedly dropped her off at home. The woman says Rahul later told her that he did not intend to marry anyone and that marriage would harm his political future.

Woman's complaint 'I have known Rahul for many years. In September 2023, Rahul reconnected with me through Instagram. He first messaged me in a very respectful manner. A few days later, as he requested, I gave him my Telegram number. After that, Rahul told me he liked me and wanted to marry me. He also said that my career ambitions would not be affected by his political life. When I informed my family, they were not ready to agree at first. But after Rahul became Youth Congress state president, my family agreed to the marriage. When I informed Rahul, he said he would come home along with his relatives. When I came home during my vacation, he told me he wanted to meet me privately to discuss future matters. Rahul came in a car driven by his friend Fenni Ninan.

He took me to a place several kilometres away from the city. Rahul said the building, which looked like a homestay, belonged to his friend. I trusted him and went to the room. But once we entered, without saying anything, he forcibly tried to have a physical relationship with me. I resisted, but he said that since we were going to get married, there was nothing wrong with it. He then ignored my objections and sexually assaulted me in a cruel manner. I struggled to breathe and had to take medicine. Rahul continued the assault. I suffered injuries on my body due to the attack. Afterwards, when I spoke about marriage again, Rahul replied that he did not intend to marry anyone and that marriage would harm his political future.

I was completely shattered. Rahul had deliberately deceived me. Without any remorse, he quickly got dressed and asked me to leave. His friend dropped me off near my house. I was so devastated that I couldn’t tell my family anything. I went through severe mental stress for days. Rahul stayed away for almost a month and then contacted me again as if nothing had happened, asking to meet. Rahul Mamkootathil is a sexual predator who misuses his political power to exploit women. I request the Congress leadership to stop him and remove him from all posts.'

The woman also stated that the Crime Branch has collected information related to the incident.
