'Will kill you'; police conclude that Chitrapriya's murder was pre-planned
KALADY: Police have concluded that the murder of 19-year-old aviation student Chitrapriya in Malayattoor by her friend Alan was a pre-planned act. Although Alan claims he killed her in a moment of sudden anger, police say the information recovered from his phone shows otherwise.
According to police, Alan had sent messages to Chitrapriya saying things like “I will kill you.” The suspicion that she had another relationship is believed to be the reason behind this. Police think he may have taken her out deliberately and then killed her. Ernakulam Rural SP M Hemalatha said the investigation is progressing to find the real motive behind the murder.
Police said the two had fallen in love when they were in classes 9 and 10. They broke up about one and a half years ago but recently got back together. As problems between them worsened, her family had warned Alan not to come home. After almost ending the relationship, Chitrapriya went to Bengaluru for her studies. However, Alan continued to contact her over the phone.
On the day of the incident, Alan became suspicious because Chitrapriya was not answering his calls. He took her to a rubber plantation to question her. Alan told the police that he struck her with a stone after she slapped him several times, saying she had lost her friends because of their relationship. So far, only Alan has been arrested. Police are also checking whether anyone else was involved in the murder.
