PALAKKAD: Although the BJP has won 25 out of 53 seats and has become the largest single party in the municipality, there is still a possibility of not getting the rule. This is if the left, right, and the independent candidate ally together. Otherwise, the BJP will rule the municipality for the third time in a row. V K Sreekandan MP responded that the secular sects should unite to keep BJP away from rule in Palakkad municipality. In the meantime, it needs to know whether LDF and UDF unite for this cause.

UDF secured 18 seats while LDF and a Congress rebel won nine and one seat respectively. UDF got a great lead at the beginning of vote counting, but BJP managed to lead by the last lap. Palakkad is the first municipality in Kerala where BJP came into rule. BJP secured 28 seats in the 2020 election.

Sectarianism is rampant within the party. Many including the former chairperson, have come against the administration. Controversies arose at times including candidate selection. They faced the local body election without solving the issues that started back when C Krishnakumar was chosen as the candidate for the assembly by-election. The conflicts over the participation of the municipal chairperson Prameela Sasidharan, in a public event along with Rahul Mamkoottathil MLA, also sustained in the party.
