"Women married off to sleep with their husbands, one with brazenness go ahead"; CPM leader makes controversial remarks after election win
MALAPPURAM: CPM leader makes anti-women remarks after election results are out. The incident took place in Thenala, Malappuram. The controversial remarks were made by former local secretary Said Ali Majeed.
Saidali Majeed's remark was that the League brought women to defeat him and that the women who were married should not be presented in front of others. The CPM leader's controversial remarks were made in a speech at a program after he was elected as a panchayat member.
"Do you know why we look at the family honour when we get married? It is for this. I am reminding you on this occasion that women who come into families through marriage should not be presented in front of other men for trivial votes, to defeat Saidali Majeed, to capture some ward."
"We have all got our children married off. We have grown-up children at home. They were all married off to sleep with their husbands at night. If they enter politics, they will have to hear even worse things. Go ahead if you have the brazenness. If you want, file a case against this. I know how to deal with it," says Saidali.
A video of Saidali's speech has been released. The footage also shows the audience clapping after hearing the misogynistic remarks. It is reported that the Women’s League, the women’s wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, will also file a complaint over the incident.
