Astrologer who determined date and time for Attukal Pongala passes away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Astrologer Vijayan Namboodiri passed away Wednesday morning. He was 60. He was the one who determined the date and time for Attukal Pongala for about 30 years. He died this morning after collapsing at his home in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been undergoing treatment for liver ailments for quite some time.

Vijayan Namboothiri came to Thiruvananthapuram from Kottayi in Palakkad years ago to fix the date and time for Attukal Pongala. He lived near the Attukal temple and continued as an astrologer. He leaves behind his wife Savitha and children Arabhi G N and Adwaith G N. His funeral would be held later.
