Thiruvananthapuram Corporation: UDF mayoral candidate KS Sabarinathan, deputy mayoral candidate Mary Pushpam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader KS Sabarinathan will contest for the post of mayor in the capital municipal corporation as a UDF candidate. Kunnukuzhy councillor Mary Pushpam will contest for the post of deputy mayor. The LDF had also decided to contest for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor earlier.

Punnakkamugal Councillor and CPM District Committee member RP Shivaji is the Left's mayoral candidate. With this, it is certain that candidates from all three fronts will contest for the post of mayor. BJP is currently the largest party in the council, with 50 out of 100 councillors. Still, it cannot be expected that the BJP will not have any challenges in the mayoral election. The other two fronts have also entered the contest to avoid a situation where there will be no contest. The mayoral election will be held on December 26 at 10.30 am. The deputy mayor election will be held in the afternoon.
