THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bharatiya Janata Party secured an absolute majority after coming to power in the Thiruvananthapuram corporation for the first time. With the support of independent candidate Pattoor Radhakrishnan, who won from Kannammoola ward, the BJP's majority increased to 51.

Radhakrishnan announced that he would support the BJP in the mayoral and deputy mayoral elections. The support came after V.V. Rajesh was declared the mayoral candidate by BJP.

Yesterday, Radhakrishnan had discussions with leaders, including BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar. After the meeting, the BJP state president responded that Radhakrishnan was impressed by BJP’s vision of development in the capital city. Meanwhile, Radhakrishnan hinted that his support for BJP will remain tentative and may not last for five long years.

Meanwhile, Pala Municipality leaned towards UDF after three councillors from the Pulikkakandam family announced their support. The UDF accepted the demands put forward by the Pulikkakandam family during the discussions. Diya Binu Pulikkakandam will be the first-term chairperson. Diya Binu is 21 years old. Diya responded that age is just a number and that she will work for the development of Pala.

For the first time in Pala Municipality, Kerala Congress M will sit in the opposition. The LDF leadership held discussions with the Pulikkakandam family, but the proposed consensus was not accepted.
