Hard time explaining love bite marks to boyfriend: Kerala nursing student files false gang rape case, caught red-handed
BENGALURU: Crucial CCTV footage and digital evidence busted a fabricated gang rape case filed by a Kerala native nursing student in Bengaluru. The incident was reported almost two weeks ago, while the probe is said to be ongoing. The student had alleged that she was gang raped by a cab driver and his friends near Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal. However, officials who probed the case were in for a surprise after digital evidence proved otherwise.
As per the Kerala girl who is studying in a private institution in Bengaluru, she was assaulted on the night of December 2 while going towards the railway station to catch a train back home. The complaint was filed on December 6, and the police officials soon nabbed the cab driver, a 33-year-old man and a father of two children.
Even after repeated questioning, the driver pleaded innocence. This prompted officials to check on the CCTV footage. Surprisingly, the footage showed both the cab driver and the student walking in a park in total harmony, unlike the version told by the complainant. They spent hours together and left only when the student went to take her train at 5:30 am. The police couldn’t find any other men accompanying them.
However, an inspection of the phone of the cab driver offered another twist. The messages suggested that the two had been friends for a long time. This forced the police to summon the student again for questioning. During this interrogation, she admitted to fabricating the case. According to her, she made these false charges in a bid to avoid explaining to her boyfriend the love bite marks visible on her neck. It is almost confirmed in the findings that the student was keeping a consensual relationship with the cab driver.
A formal closure in the case is pending. Legal steps are underway regarding the filing of the false report.
