Kadakampally was on the verge of tears during interrogation, Unnikrishnan Potty gives statement about Delhi trip
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, has given a statement to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding his meeting with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. It is reported that he gave details regarding the meeting. Along with this, the investigation team has also sought clarification from Potty regarding the statements given by former minister Kadakampally Surendran. Kadakampally is likely to be questioned again based on it.
Reports say Kadakampally's reply to the questions related to Unnikrishnan Potty during the first interrogation were completely vague. It is also suspected whether it is a normal procedure to write above the application to help Potty. The reply that the minister does not interfere in the affairs of the board is also not satisfactory. His reply in connection with the financial transactions with Potty is also not clear. This is why Kadakampally is being questioned again after taking Potty's statement.
Reports say Kadakampally got emotional during the three-hour interrogation by the SIT. He said that he has no knowledge or involvement in the gold theft. He also requested that he should not called a gold smuggler. The allegations are causing him mental distress. Kadakampally also demanded that the investigation team clarify the matter. The statements of Padmakumar and Vasu will also be examined. The team will question Kadakampally again after collecting the details of his foreign trips while servicing as the minister. Meantime, former Devaswom Board president P S Prasanth will be questioned again next week to clarify the statement given earlier and to inquire about some newly found things.
Meantime, the special investigation team found that the gold-plated sheets covering Prabhamandalam of Lord Ayyappa was also stolen. The gold plating on the Prabhamandalam contains the image of Lord Shiva and vyali figures. Two copper plates engraved with the ten avatars, two plates engraved with the zodiac signs, and the gold plating on the upper floor of the plate were also stolen.
The SIT also said that more gold has been stolen from the Dwarapalaka idols and the door frames. The information that has come out is that 989 grams were stolen. The extent of the loot will increase once the scientific examination at the VSSC is completed.
