Justice Soumen Sen to take charge as CJ of Kerala High Court, order issued accepting Collegium recommendation

NEW DELHI: Justice Soumen Sen will take charge as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on January 9. The central government has issued an order accepting the recommendation given by the Supreme Court Collegium. Soumen Sen is currently the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Soumen Sen as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on December 18. Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court Nitin Jamdar is retiring on January 9. Sen will fill that vacancy. He will have a term as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court till July 27, 2027.

Justice Soumen Sen, a native of Kolkata, joined the legal profession in 1991. He became the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court on April 13, 2011. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of Meghalaya in August 2025.
