WASHINGTON DC: The United States has issued a strong warning to the government over the ongoing protests in Iran against price hikes. US President Donald Trump posted a warning message on the social media platform Truth Social. 'If Iran shoots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go'

Seven people have been killed in protests in Iran, which is facing a severe economic crisis, including protesters and security forces defending them. As protests in Iran against price hikes have spread beyond the capital Tehran, security forces are trying to suppress the protests with force through armed means. A violent attack took place in western Iran. The videos show fires and gunfire in the streets.

This is the most intense state-to-people confrontation that Iran has seen since the death of 22-year-old Mahasa Amini in 2022 over "improper" hijab. The government has clarified that the protests are not as strong as they were then. However, strong slogans are being raised against the totalitarian regime in Iran this time.

Iran's official television responded by saying that several people who tried to take advantage of the protests were arrested. Previously, in June 2025, the United States had bombed Iran's nuclear facilities. However, Iranian officials had clarified at that time that they were not enriching uranium as the United States suspected. It is in the midst of this issue that the United States has now threatened to attack Iran if the protesters are killed.
