Rajeev Chandrasekhar to contest from Nemom in assembly polls, Surendran in Palakkad; BJP to announce candidates soon
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP have decided to announce the candidates in winning seats in the upcoming assembly elections in the state. The candidates will be announced early in 30 seats. Election campaigning will also begin after January 12. The names of Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Nemom in Thiruvananthapuram and V Muraleedharan in Kazhakoottam are being heard. The name of former state president K Surendran is heard in Palakkad. Shobha Surendran may also be considered in Kayamkulam.
The BJP has decided to start the campaign with Amit Shah's arrival in Kerala on January 11. Amit Shah is coming to Kerala to celebrate the BJP coming to power in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Amit Shah is likely to announce the date of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival. The home minister will personally meet and address all the BJP members who won the local body elections.
The work will start with the leaders who are likely to become candidates in the constituencies that made good progress in the local body elections and the last Lok Sabha elections. Amit Shah will hold a meeting with the participation of about 2,000 members who won the local elections. The assembly election committee and the executive will meet at the state level.
In the local elections, the core committee meeting held yesterday had assessed that the Left and Right Fronts had made a joint effort to prevent the party from winning. The CPM-Congress cooperation against the BJP will be a tough challenge in the future. The slogan of Vikasitha Keralam, which was put forward by Rajiv Chandrasekhar after he became the state president, was successful for the party to gain decisive influence in the state with the victory in crucial places in the local elections, and that will be the party's slogan in the assembly elections as well. It was also assessed that more importance should be given to the Sabarimala theft case.
