Chief Justice who did not encourage unnecessary public interest litigations: Nitin Jamdar to retire on 10th
KOCHI: Kerala High Court Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar will retire from service on Saturday. A full court reference (farewell ceremony) is scheduled to be held in Court Hall No. 1 this afternoon. A native of Maharashtra, Nitin Jamdar took charge as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on September 26, 2024. He has served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Mumbai High Court.
Nitin Jamdar was appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court in 2012 while practising as an advocate in Mumbai. He had implemented the practice of considering public interest litigations separately. Nitin Jamdar, who did not encourage unnecessary public interest litigations, had also adopted the practice of excluding the petitioner and appointing an amicus curiae to consider the matter if he was convinced that the petitions were not for the right purpose.
