THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say the BJP leadership is displeased with the actions of Sasthamangalam ward councilor R Sreelekha, who has repeatedly put the party in crisis, due to her disappointment over not getting the mayor's post. The leadership was angered by the invalidation of Sreelekha's vote in the election of the corporation standing committee members. Although it is assessed that this was not intentional, a section alleged that Sreelekha is taking steps to undermine the party.

The reason for Sreelekha's vote being invalid is that she did not sign the slip to record her vote in the election of the city planning committee members. The leaders said Sreelekha did not attend the first class held for party councilors on how to vote. However, the party's district and state leadership have not publicly responded to any of this.

Meantime, within days of taking charge as councilor, Sreelekha had asked V K Prasanth MLA to vacate his office functioning in the corporation building in Sasthamangalam. Sreelekha was upset for not getting support from the party except for Mayor V V Rajesh's promise that all the rented buildings would be accounted for that day.

Sreelekha returned home without even attending the victory celebrations after the mayoral and deputy mayoral elections. Realizing that she was dissatisfied for not getting the mayor’s post, the mayor and deputy mayor went to Sreelekha's house and persuaded her. Following all this, the party was also troubled by the revelation that she was made to contest after being offered the mayor's post.
