These are times when even God is not safe, good news should be given: Governor releases Kerala Kaumudi's "Sree Padmanabham"
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor RV Arlekar said that the media should be ready to provide good news that gives hope to the people at least occasionally, at a time when even the deities of temples like Sabarimala and Guruvayur are not safe from looting. He was speaking after releasing the book "Sree Padmanabham", prepared by Kerala Kaumudi on the occasion of its 114th anniversary.
“The media should be able to show the good in a society full of violence. This is also what Sree Narayana Guru’s concept of social renaissance advises. Historical and cultural structures like the Padmanabhaswamy Temple give hope and solace to people. It reminds us of our cultural heritage. It fills us with pride and hope. Kerala Kaumudi’s book Sree Padmanabham, which points to that, will benefit the society.”
"The history of 114 years of Kerala Kaumudi is also a testimony to the history of the country. Mahatmaji's freedom struggle, the train of thought of Narayana Guru, Tagore and others, the motivation created by Vande Bharat, the spirit given by Bharat Mata Ki Jai. All this once filled the newspapers. But today, the news is who was arrested by the SIT in the Sabarimala case. People who used to think who I am are now thinking where I am. This will influence their thoughts, social attitudes and politics. It is the duty of the media to guide them," he reminded.
"The country is moving towards the goal of a developed India by 2047. A developed India is not just about economic growth. It should also be implemented in areas such as culture, education, health, industry and so on," the Governor said.
Mayor V.V. Rajesh presided over the function held at Hotel Dimora. Kerala Kaumudi Chief Editor Deepu Ravi presented a momento to the Governor.
