THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan said that a large-scale people's movement against communal politics will be organised on January 30, the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi. He also said that people should realise that the difference between Gandhi and Godse is the same as true religious faith and communalism.

Govindan reiterated that if RSS is a form of majority communalism, then Jamaat-e-Islami is a prominent faction of minority communalism. Govindan said that these organisations should not be confused with faith, and the criticism made against them is being raised as criticism against religious faith, including by the media. He also announced that the country's poison, the RSS and the Jamaat-e-Islami, will be opposed, and believers will be mobilised in the fight against communalism.

"What's so difficult about talking about the Marad riots? The UDF was in power then. Many people lost their lives then. The riots were caused by the ideology of Jamaat-e-Islami. What's so difficult about talking about that?" Govindan asked.
