No RAC; Indian Railways releases Vande Bharat Sleeper ticket rates
NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways has released the Vande Bharat Sleeper ticket fares. There will be no RAC and waiting list. The minimum fare for third AC is Rs 960. One will have to pay Rs 1240 for second AC and the rate of first AC is Rs 1520.
The first Vande Bharat Sleeper class train has been announced on the Kolkata-Guwahati route as a New Year gift. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train soon. 'Passengers will be charged Rs 2.4 per km for third AC, Rs 3.1 per km for second AC and Rs 3.8 per km for first AC. Therefore, the minimum fare for the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, which has a distance of up to 400 km, will be Rs 960 for third AC, Rs 1,240 for second AC and Rs 1,520 for first AC. Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be levied separately, said the officials.
The fare of Vande Bharat sleeper train tickets is slightly higher than that of existing premium trains like Rajdhani Express. Its minimum fare will be the same as that charged for a distance of 400 km in many other trains.
AC class waitlisted tickets in other express trains will not be accepted in Vande Bharat. As per RAC, two passengers are allowed to share a side lower berth. Like other trains, Vande Bharat sleeper will also have quota for women, disabled and senior citizens in addition to duty pass quota for employees.
