50 doctors and team to Sabarimala to serve pilgrims: Know how to contact in case of medical emergency

SANNIDHANAM: The Health Department has arranged the services of about fifty doctors and allied staff, including specialists, in connection with the Sabarimala Makaravilakku Mahotsavam. They have been deployed in Sannidhanam, Pampa, Neelimala, Appachimedu, Charalmedu and Nilakkal hospitals. A reserve list of doctors has also been prepared to ensure service in an emergency. Availability of medicines has been ensured in all hospitals. In addition to regular medicines, thrombolytic medicine for heart attacks, anti-snake venom for snake bites, vaccine for rabies, immunoglobulin, etc. are also available in the hospitals.

Ambulances and medical teams will be on duty at Makaravilakku viewpoints. In addition to the existing 27 ambulances, 46 ambulances, including 19 additional ambulances, have been deployed for emergency services. Out of these, 14 ambulances will be deployed at various viewpoints and five ambulances at Pampa and Nilakkal. 17 emergency medical aid stations are ready on the route from Pampa to Sannidhanam.

A 24-hour control room has also been set up to manage the stretcher service and ambulance service. In addition, a 72-hour control room is operating at the District Medical Office.
