Certain experiences in life often leave us with valuable lessons or new insights. Actress Parvathy Krishna has now shared one such personal experience from her life. The actress spoke about an incident that took place during her trip to Varanasi, one of India’s major spiritual centres. Parvathy shared her experience of consuming bhang during her Varanasi visit through her Instagram account.

Recalling the incident, Parvathy said, “They ask whether you want it light, medium or strong. We chose medium, but honestly, it went out of control. However, we made sure to return to our room immediately after consuming it. We had heard many stories about people roaming around Kashi without being able to find their rooms after drinking bhang.”

Baba Thandai is a traditional drink in which cannabis leaves are ground and mixed. The beverage is prepared using milk, almonds, cashew nuts, cardamom, saffron, melon seeds and rose petals, and bhang is added to it. The dosage varies as light, medium or strong, depending on the preference of the consumer.

One important thing to note is that the effect of bhang is not felt immediately after consumption. The intoxication usually begins anywhere between one to three hours, and the effect can vary from person to person. Once the effect sets in, people experience a heavy sensation in the head. The intoxication can last for up to three hours.
