Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Thiruvananthapuram today
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the state capital today for a one-day visit. He will reach the airport at 10.15 am and will be received by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Mayor V.V. Rajesh, and other leaders.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will flag off four new trains and lay the foundation stone for the Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub being set up by the Centre at the Thonnakkal Life Sciences Park. He will also release the development blueprint of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, which is currently under BJP rule.
The Prime Minister’s journey to Putharikandam Maidan at East Fort, where all three events will be held, will be conducted as a roadshow. Around 25,000 party workers are expected to take part in the programme. The BJP plans to use the visit to mark the beginning of its campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.
At the first official function, the Prime Minister will flag off the Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram, Thiruvananthapuram–Hyderabad, Nagercoil–Mangaluru Amrit Bharat trains, and the Guruvayur–Thrissur passenger train. The foundation stone for the Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Hub will also be laid at the same event.
After this, the Prime Minister will proceed to a nearby party venue to release the corporation’s development blueprint. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will attend the railway programme at Putharikandam. The Prime Minister is scheduled to depart around 12.40 pm.
