Strict restrictions imposed in capital city as part of PM’s visit, no parking on road sides, vehicles to be diverted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Thiruvananthapuram city as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kerala. The Shanghumukham-Airport area and Putharikandam-East Fort area will remain as temporary red zones. The use of drones/drone cameras, flying kites and balloons and the use of laser beam lights have been banned within a two-kilometer radius of the Shanghumukham-Airport area and Putharikandam-East Fort area. The city police commissioner informed that all vehicles entering Thiruvananthapuram city will be subjected to strict security checking. Traffic restrictions have been imposed in the city from 7 am to 2 pm today. On Friday, from 7 am to 2 pm, vehicles will not be allowed to park on both sides of the road from domestic airport- Shanghumukham- All Saints College-Chakkai- Pettah-Pallimukku-Pattoor- General Hospital-Asan Square-Martyrs Column-VJT- Main Gate-Statue-Pulimood-Ayurveda College-Over Bridge-Pazhavangadi-Power House Junction-Choorakkattpalayam. Vehicles will not be allowed to park on both sides of the road from Shanghumukham-Domestic Airport-Valiyathura- Ponnarappalam-Kallummood-Ananthapuri Hospital-Enchakkal-Mitranandapuram- SP Fort- Sreekandeswaram Park-Thakaraparambu Flyover-Powerhouse Junction and on both sides of the Chakkai-Ananthapuri Hospital Road.

Authorities have informed that legal action will be taken against vehicles parked on roads where traffic restrictions have been imposed, including removing them using recovery vehicles. Traffic will also be restricted on side roads leading to the main road. Traffic will be diverted from 10 am to 11 am and from 12 pm to 1 pm. Vehicles going from the domestic airport side via Shanghumukham will be diverted via the Valiyathura Ponnarapalam Kallumoodu area and vehicles going from Vettukad and Veli sides via All Saints will have to go via Madhavpuram and Venpalavattom. Vehicles going from the Kazhakoottam side to Thiruvananthapuram city via Chakkai will have to go via Venpalavattom - Kumarapuram-Pattom-Kowdiar.
