30-year-old woman brutally assaults mother in the name of face cream, breaks ribs, sustains head injuries

KOCHI: In a fit of rage, a 30-year-old woman broke her mother’s ribs in the name of a face cream. The incident happened at Panangad in Ernakulam on Monday evening. Nivya attacked her 70-year-old mother Sarasu. The woman, who went into hiding after this, was arrested by the police from Wayanad.

Police said the dispute that broke over changing the place of the face cream later turned into a fight. She caught her mother’s neck and used an iron crowbar to break her ribs. Sarasu also sustained head injuries. She filed a complaint with the police the next day after the incident. Police said Nivya has a criminal background. Nivya is accused in several cases including drug cases, murder and child kidnapping.

Police said Nivya used to constantly create problems at home. Nivya's mother is presently undergoing treatment for a serious rib injury.
