'Las Vegas visit and duped me of Rs 35 lakhs'; Kochi native files complaint against popular Mentalist Aathi

KOCHI: A complaint surfaced against popular Mentalist Aathi, alleging him of duping a man of Rs 35 lakh. As per the complainant, Aathi convinced him of the need to visit Las Vegas to hone his skills and bring back home important items associated with his mentalist practice.

"They took the money by promising to give me dates for all the shows in 2026. They also promised to give me one-third of the profits from the ten shows. 90 per cent of the shows were sold out. The team said they would return the money within two days. I called them for a meeting two days later. When I demanded the money, things got upside down. They said the show was a loss. I demanded only the money and not the profit, which was responded with threats. I have filed a complaint. I have faith in the police," the complainant explained.

Based on a complaint filed by a Kochi native, the Ernakulam Central Police registered a case against mentalist Aathi and director Jis Joy, alleging that they cheated him by taking money in the name of the show 'Insomnia'.

There are four accused in the case. Mentalist Aathi is the first accused, and Jis Joy the fourth accused. The complaint alleges that he was cheated of Rs 35 lakh in two phases. Meanwhile, director Jis Joy has responded that he has no connection with the case.
