'Vizhinjam port has become a wonder': Chief Minister inaugurates second phase of construction activities

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the second phase of construction work of Vizhinjam Port. The Chief Minister performed the switch-on ceremony of the piling. Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was the chief guest at the event. Ministers VN Vasavan, KN Balagopal, Mayor VV Rajesh, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan and others were present at the event.

'This marks the beginning of the second leap of the Vizhinjam port. Vizhinjam port has become a wonder. The dream of the land has come true. This is a new chapter in infrastructure development. I am sure that the Union Minister will do everything possible for the Vizhinjam port.

"We have been dreaming of a Vizhinjam port for decades. Each time, there were major obstacles. On one side, there were natural disasters and epidemics. On the other side, there were other problems. We cannot stand still in the face of such obstacles. Although the project was started during the UDF government before 2016, the LDF government was responsible for implementing it. Our state used to hear the criticism that many things would not happen here. It was mocked that none of this would materialise in Kerala. We responded to those criticisms and mockery by implementing many projects," the Chief Minister said in his inaugural speech.
