CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin launched a scathing attack on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the assembly elections. Stalin attacked the central government, highlighting issues such as women's safety, the Manipur riots and the rampant spread of drugs. He was speaking at the DMK women's conference held in Thanjavur.

MK STALIN:

“The Prime Minister’s allegation of Tamil Nadu not being a safe place for women is sheer nonsense. Mr Prime Minister, if there is any place in India where women are safe, then it is Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu is the state with the highest female participation in the workplace.

What was the central government doing when riots engulfed one prominent state of India? The deaths reported are 260, and the people displaced surpass over a lakh, and still BJP's double-engine government could not bring peace. Those who talk incessantly about drug use in Tamil Nadu should not forget the fact that the drugs are entering the country through BJP-ruled states. Isn’t this the failure of the central government agencies?

AIADMK-BJP alliance is a joke, as many join NDA in fear of ED raids. Tamil Nadu will yet again reject the alliance as it did in 2019 and 2021.

Stalin ended his speech by enumerating the achievements of this government.

"The first thing I signed after becoming the Chief Minister was free bus travel for women. Women call it 'Stalin buses'. This itself is proof that the project is hugely successful among people”

Meanwhile, DMK MP Kanimozhi, who spoke at the meeting, mocked Modi as a tourist Prime Minister who only visits Tamil Nadu during election seasons. She also questioned the Centre's neglect of flood relief and the Hosur airport project. The DMK has decided to intensify its election campaign by holding five more mega meetings across Tamil Nadu in February.
