Days after facing new Mayor's wrath, NGO leader gets govt's support
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government stepped in to protect an official from the corporation, also an organisational leader of the party, who was transferred from the main office upon the intervention of new Mayor VV Rajesh. The NGO union leader, who was a revenue inspector, was transferred to the Attipra zonal office last week.
The officer had written a letter stating that he did not need to be promoted to the post of Junior Superintendent to remain within the corporation limits under the government's influence and to continue with organisational activities. Last day, he was promoted to Assistant Secretary and transferred to Kannur Malapattam Panchayat.
However, the officer is yet to assume the new post. The local government department reported the retirement vacancy of a junior superintendent in the principal directorate, and it is hoped that he will be transferred here. Left organisations had staged a strike in protest against the officer's transfer to Attipra.
