Groundbreaking contributions to healthcare sector: Malayali entrepreneurs win UK Innovator of the Year award
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UK government's Innovator of the Year award for innovative startup ideas from around the world has been given to Malayalis Hermercheese Balan and Cyril Roy. This award is from Envestors Limited, an endorsement body under the UK Home Office's Innovator Founder Visa program. The duo developed an initiative that finds solutions to the challenges facing the healthcare sector in the UK.
This award is given to those who have come to England through the UK Government's Innovator Founder Visa and have turned such ideas into excellent ventures. Their goal was to develop a venture that is compatible with the healthcare sector in the UK. For this, they established a healthcare training company called Mentor Merlin UK Limited. Through this, a digital platform called Oportal was developed. It included AI-based tracking, training progress, performance analysis, compliance monitoring, and onboarding support. The platform aims to reduce delays in nurse recruitment, ensure quality, connect nurses for NHS employment, provide training, and streamline the training placement process for those preparing for the exam to register as a nurse in the UK.
The Malayali entrepreneurs were selected for the award from more than 750 startups from different parts of the world in ten categories. Hermercheese is a native of Irinjalakuda, Thrissur, and Cyril is a native of Kaipuzha, Kottayam.
