Rank lists with 'zero' appointments

The situation is such that a government job is becoming a 'beautiful dream' that will never come true, even for the candidates who secure the first rank in the PSC examination. The fact that not even the first rankers in the Asst. Professor rank lists, which expire this year, have not yet been appointed, is equivalent to making the PSC rank lists look like a joke. Those with financial means generally rely on aided colleges for lecturer appointments. However, those without it wait to appear in the rank list by taking the PSC examination based on their own ability. Candidates are asking why this list is being published if not even one person from the rank list has been appointed.

Rasheeda, a native of Malappuram, who secured first rank in her Degree, PG, B.Ed and M.Phil examinations, secured first rank in the PSC Urdu Asst. Professor examination as well. Not even Rasheeda, who was ranked first in the rank list published in 2023, was appointed. The rank list expired a few days ago. The PSC often cites non-reporting of vacancies as the reason for non-appointment. If that is the case, then why does the PSC conduct an exam and publish a rank list for a post for which there are no vacancies? In the old days, those who came in first and second place in the PSC rank list would definitely get the job. In the new times, that too has disappeared.

Only a handful of appointments have been made from many assistant professor lists. Those on these lists are waiting for jobs like hornbills waiting for rain. Even after six months of the clerk rank list being introduced in various departments, only two percent of appointments have been made so far. Contract appointments are being made through the back door in the name of political support, which is the main reason why those named in the PSC rank list are not getting appointments. Even though it is said that Kerala PSC is the institution that makes the most appointments in India, the fact is that many rank lists turn out to be nothing more than a sham. Similarly, no appointments have been made from the Primary School Teacher Rank List, even after a year of its publication. No appointment has been made from the U.P. School Teacher Rank List in nine districts and the L.P. School Rank List in seven districts.

Only a handful of candidates have been appointed in other districts. The rank list with the highest number of candidates for the UPST post is from Malappuram - 641 candidates. Not a single candidate has been appointed here. Not a single candidate has been appointed for the LPST post in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. It is not good for a PSC or a government to cheat those who dream of a government job, study hard, get on the rank list, and wait to be appointed. It would be better not to publish such lists at all.
