Mahashivratri 'rhythm' enthrals lakhs in Isha

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the Mahashivratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. The programmes, which began at 6 pm on Sunday in front of the Adiyogi statue, will continue till 6 am on Monday.

The programmes, which combine devotion, music and meditation, are being broadcast globally on over 100 television channels and digital platforms in 23 Indian and foreign languages. A wide range of spiritual programmes is being organised. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister L. Murugan and others were present.

The ceremonies began with the Panchabhuta Kriya. The night-time festivities began with the Linga Bhairavi Mahayatra. Aditya Gadvi performed Gujarati traditional music, Prashant Sonagra, Swaroop Khan, Blaze, Paradox, Swagat Rathod, and Prithvi Gandharv performed on percussion. Purbayan Chatterjee (Hindustani Sitar), Bharat Sundar (Carnatic Music), and Vaibhav Arekar (Bharatanatyam) participated in the classical music and dance festival 'Yaksha'.
