Actress Rashmi Leela dies at 37
BENGALURU: Actress Rashmi Leela, who had been undergoing treatment for quite some time, has died. The famous Kannada television star died at the age of 37. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru for respiratory ailments. The news of her death came to light through a note shared by her husband Saraki Manju on social media.
The actress had been undergoing treatment for rheumatoid arthritis for seven years. As the disease worsened, she reached a very serious condition called pulmonary fibrosis, which affects the lungs. She had been surviving with the help of an oxygen cylinder for the past one year.
Her colleagues in the Kannada film and television industry had raised money for her treatment. She underwent a surgery costing Rs 19 lakh. She died while her family and friends were waiting with hope that she would come back to life. Her last rites will be held in Bengaluru.
