'Operation Subash' a success; stranded cat safely rescued from metro pillar, shifted to animal hospital
KOCHI: A cat that had been stuck on a metro pillar for a week was finally rescued in a late-night joint operation by the Fire and Rescue Services and an animal rescue team. The rescuers brought the cat down safely from the metro bridge and shifted it to the animal hospital in Thoppumpady in an animal rescue ambulance.
Local auto drivers in the area have named the cat “Subhash,” drawing a comparison to the film Manjummel Boys. The cat was first noticed trapped on the pillar, and an initial inspection was carried out near pillar number 385, but it could not be located at that time.
Authorities had initially decided to conduct the rescue at night after metro services ended and the power lines were switched off. However, visuals showing the cat in a weak condition increased public demand for an immediate rescue. The footage of the exhausted cat lying in a corner on top of the pillar surfaced on Saturday morning, prompting urgent action.
