Son shoots father to death for forcing him to pursue medical career, chops body in front of sister
LUCKNOW: A 21-year-old youth shot his father to death for forcing him to write competitive exams and pursue a medical career. The incident happened at Ashiana in Luckow. The youth identified as Akshat Pratap Singh killed his father Manvendra Singh (50), who was running a pharmaceutical company. After killing him, he dismembered the body and dumped it in a barrel at home. Although his sister witnessed the murder, he frightened her into silence.
Manvendra Singh had been missing since Friday. During an investigation by the police, the body parts were recovered from a barrel in an empty room of the house. It is reported that he had abandoned some parts. Following this, the murder came to light when Akshat was questioned. He told police that he decided to kill him because his father forced him to become a doctor. There were constant fights between the two over this. A dispute broke out on Friday as well and in a fit of rage, he shot him. When his sister saw him, he frightened her into silence. She told police that she did not tell anyone because she was threatened. The forensic team collected more evidence from the house.
Akshat was taken into custody but his arrest has not been recorded. He is being questioned. Based on the evidence obtained, a case will be registered under relevant sections and further legal proceedings will be ensured, said Vikrant Veer, a senior officer of Lucknow's Ashiana area.
