Kamal Haasan (KH) and Rajinikanth (RK) are officially reuniting for an untitled film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, produced by Red Giant Movies, ending a 47-year hiatus. The duo last appeared together in the 1979 film Alauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum.

The gangster-themed, high-budget multi-starrer was announced on February 21, 2026. Tentatively named "KH x RK - Reunion", the project features music by Anirudh Ravichander and is set for a Pan-India release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

The movie is rumoured to be made with a "retro" aesthetic, likely heavily influenced by Nelson's signature dark comedy style. Speculation regarding who plays the hero and villain is already fueling heated debates.

There were rumours suggesting that the women in the announcement promo for the upcoming film were generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The women in the background of the garage scene appeared hyper-realistic, with some, including a response from AI tool Grok, questioning the authenticity of the footage.

Now, a behind-the-scenes video has been released dismissing those claims. While the polished, high-contrast look of the garage scene in the promo led some to speculate about AI, BTS images and discussions from the set indicate that real individuals were used, debunking claims that they were entirely AI-generated.
