Two students found hanging in separate incidents in Nedumudi
KUTTANAD: Two higher secondary school students were found hanging inside their houses in two separate incidents in the Nedumudi police station limits. Ann Maria David (18), a Plus Two student of Champakulam St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, daughter of David of ‘Pulikatra house’ in Ward 11 of Champakulam Panchayat, and Irene Sabu (17), a Plus One student of Kuttamangalam SNDP Higher Secondary School, daughter of Sabu of ‘Kayatilchira house’ in Ward 12 of Kainakary Panchayat, committed suicide. Both were found hanging from their shawls inside their respective houses yesterday. Ann’s father, David, gave a statement to the police alleging a mystery behind his daughter’s death. Although a suicide note was found, the police have not released its details.
The locals demanded that the young man, a native of Edathua, had previously threatened family members and that an investigation be conducted into his role in the death. Ann Maria, who was sleeping in the hall with her siblings, was found hanging in the hall by her brother at 4.40 am on Wednesday.
Irene Sabu is believed to have died between 9 and 10.45 am yesterday. She was found hanging from a fan in her bedroom. Despite being rushed to the hospital, her life could not be saved.
