‘Life without loved ones is difficult'; Courage of people of Wayanad is extraordinary, says Priyanka Gandhi

WAYANAD: Priyanka Gandhi MP said that she is like a member of each family of Wayanad. She added that the courage of the people of Wayanad is extraordinary. She clarified that the Congress has tried its best to provide help. She was speaking at the foundation stone laying function of 100 houses that the Congress is building for the victims of the Wayanad landslide disaster.

'Everyone faced the Wayanad disaster by supporting each other regardless of caste or religion. I was not your MP then. My brother Rahul Gandhi was the MP for Wayanad then. Now I am your MP. I am now a member of your family. I have understood the conflict you went through at that time. I have also heard that your family tried to restore the old ways.

Life without your loved ones is difficult. I have seen a man who have lost his farm and made a living by driving an auto. I have also seen strong youth here who tried to regain their lives despite losing everyone in their family. Everyone in the Congress has raised their voice for you to get justice. These issues have been raised many times in Parliament.

All the MPs had met the union home minister and demanded that the Wayanad tragedy be declared a national disaster. A letter was written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this. We had organized protests outside Parliament. We did everything we could to support you. We have tried for your life, irrespective of political parties,' said Priyanka Gandhi.
