KOLLAM: CPM leader Chintha Jerome courted controversy for her participation in a protest march that raised deeply misogynistic slogans. The march was organised by DYFI Kollam East Block Committee in protest against the alleged attack on Minister Veena George at Kannur railway station. Congress leader VT Balram called out Chintha for her hypocrisy.

Chintha:

“It was an emotional protest. More than an attack, it was an attempted murder committed against a member of the CPM's state committee. There is no surprise that the slogans were a bit ferocious. While taking part in such a march, it is normal to echo the slogans raised.

CPM's progressive politics align with women and the marginalised. I am someone who upholds pro-women stances at every stage. Those unleashing a heinous campaign against us must understand that facts. I tried not to shout the slogan when I heard it.”
