Thalapathy Vijay accused of extra marital with actress affair by Sangeetha Sornalingam; TVK chief's wife files for divorce at Family Court

CHENNAI: Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay's wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has filed for divorce. Sangeetha Sornalingam's divorce application has been filed in the Chengalpet family court. The divorce petition was filed citing an extramarital affair with an actress.

Vijay and Sangeetha got married in August 1999. They have children Jason Sanjay and Divya Shaasha. The petition states, "Petitioner discovered in 2021 that Respondent was involved in an adulterous relationship with an actress." The petition further asserts, "Respondent even after assuring to end relationship continued the adulterous relationship without remorse."

These arguments are at the heart of the legal argument presented in the district court. Although the name of the actress involved in the petition was not publicly mentioned, social media has often shared speculations about the actor's personal life in recent years. Neither Vijay nor any other party has issued an official statement regarding these specific allegations.

Meanwhile, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is taking decisive steps in the political arena in view of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. The party workers had passed a resolution demanding that party president Vijay contest from the Perambur assembly constituency. The resolution was moved by TVK election campaign committee secretary Aadav Arjuna. Vijay did not attend the meeting. Perambur is a DMK stronghold. This is the constituency that DMK's RD Shekhar won with a majority of 54,976 votes in 2021. Shekhar secured 52.93 percent of the total votes polled.
