‘RSP does not mean Revolutionary Socialist Premachandran Party', resigns from party in protest over Eravipuram candidate selection
KOLLAM: RSP Eravipuram constituency secretary N Naushad has resigned from the party following an internal dispute over the assembly seat. Naushad clarified that the resignation was due to N K Premachandran MP choosing a consensus candidate according to his own interests, after avoiding the winnable candidate. 'Premachandran's adamant stand in giving seat to his own son is the reason why the party's chances of success are being destroyed. RSP stands for Revolutionary Socialist Party and not Revolutionary Socialist Premachandran Party,' said Naushad.
Naushad said that Premachandran is imposing his interests and that many activists, including local representatives and former councilors, will leave the party in the coming days. Naushad criticized the party's decisions for being narrowed down to a single center and that things including the change of front were for Premachandran's personal gains.
Naushad’s name was heard in the party for the Eravipuram seat, but Premachandran wanted that seat for his son Karthik Premachandran. Shibu Baby John faction opposed the decision and this led to a heated argument. The state committee meeting decided to nominate youth leader advocate Vishnu Mohan as the consensus candidate. RSP state secretary A Aziz had earlier informed that Karthik Premachandran would not be a candidate. Naushad alleged that the district and state committee meetings held later were a farce.
