PERUMBAVOOR: A 36-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her house near a petrol pump at Shaappumpadi in Keezhillam. The deceased has been identified as Jibi Mol (36), a native of Panikkarambalam in Keezhillam. Jibi Mol's second husband, Liju (56), who was missing from the house after the incident, was later found seriously injured in a road accident. He is currently undergoing treatment at Kalamassery Medical College Hospital. Police said Liju was travelling on a bike when it was hit by a KSRTC bus at Pattal, Kuruppampady.

Marks of strangulation using a bandage were found on Jibi Mol’s neck. Neighbours became suspicious when the restaurant run by the family did not open even by 11 am on Sunday. They checked the house and found Jibi Mol unconscious on a bed. She was immediately taken to a private hospital in Muvattupuzha, but doctors declared her dead.

Liju had been undergoing treatment for varicose veins at Muvattupuzha Government Hospital for the past two weeks and had returned home on Saturday night. It is reported that the couple had an argument on Sunday morning. Liju had earlier been jailed for not paying maintenance to his first wife.

Jibi Mol, who was divorced, met Liju around ten years ago and later married him. Her daughter from her first marriage, Ananya, is staying with relatives in Chalakudy. The couple’s son, Arnav, was not at home at the time of the incident. Kuruppampady police said more details will be known only after Liju is questioned.
