Divine fulfilment for lakhs as 2026 Attukal Pongala comes to an end; No temple darshan from 3:10 pm to 7 pm today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Lakhs of devotees returned home contented after offering Pongala to goddess Attukal Amma in this year’s festival. The Nivedyam was performed at 2;15 today, following which devotees started sharing their Pongala offerings with others. Lakhs of devotees arrived from various parts of the globe, turning the capital city into a devotional hub on Tuesday.

Corporation workers have already reached the streets to clear the debris of the Pongala and make the streets clean again in record time. Trucks have also reached the roads to speed up the cleansing works.

Due to the lunar eclipse, there will be no temple darshan from 3:10 pm to 7 pm today. The Kuthiyottam ceremony will take place at 8:30 pm. The procession, which will see Attukal Bhagavathy carried on a caparisoned elephant to the Manacaud Dharmashastha temple, will be at 10:45 pm. This year's Pongala festival will conclude with the Kuruthi Tharpanam at 12:45 pm. KSRTC is operating special services for Attukal Pongala.
