Jaslia's death: Accused yet to be arrested despite identifying vehicle, students stage protest

ALUVA: Students have come out in protest over the incident in which a 19-year-old girl was killed in a road accident. The deceased is Jaslia Johnson, a native of Edavanakkad in Vypin. Jaslia, a second-year B.Com student at Morning Star College in Angamaly, met with the accident on February 28 at Telk Junction in Angamaly. Students allege that even after identifying the vehicle that hit her, the police have not taken action. The protest is being held in front of the Angamaly Police Station. The car involved in the accident reportedly belongs to a native of Athirampuzha in Kottayam. It is reported that medical students were inside the car. Students claim that although the driver has been identified, no arrest has been made so far.

The accident occurred while Jaslia was returning home after her part-time job. She suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car. Angamaly police officers who were on patrol duty rushed her to a private hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later shifted to Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva for specialised treatment. However, brain death was confirmed at 6:38 am yesterday. Following this, her parents agreed to donate her organs. Her liver was donated to a patient undergoing treatment at Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva. One kidney was sent to Kottayam Medical College, and her corneas were handed over to the Angamaly Eye Bank Association of Kerala.
