Chief Election Commissioner arrives in Kerala

KOCHI: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar arrived in the state to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. He reached Cochin International Airport at around 3 p.m. yesterday and was received by State Chief Electoral Officer Rathan U. Khelkar.

From the airport, Kumar visited the Ernakulathappan Shiva Temple. He also visited the Durbar Hall Ground, which was developed when he served as the Ernakulam District Collector. Election Commissioners S. S. Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, District Election Officer and Collector G. Priyanka, and Rural SP Sudarsan accompanied him.

The Election Commission’s visit will continue until tomorrow. During the visit, Kumar will hold discussions with district election officers. He will also visit projects completed during his tenure as Ernakulam Collector, including the Goshree Bridge, the tourist destination Cherai Beach, and the Rainbow Bridge in Marine Drive. Kumar is scheduled to meet the media on the 7th.
