Accused doctor’s father arrested in accidental death case of Jasliya
KOCHI: The father of the doctor, accused in the accidental death case of Jasliya Johnson, a B.Com student of Angamaly Morning Star College, has been arrested. George Mathew, father of Dr Cyriac George, who was driving the vehicle that hit her, has been arrested. He was arrested for helping the accused to abscond.
When the police reached their house at Athirampuzha in Kottayam, the house was found closed. George was then summoned to the Angamaly station, questioned and later recorded his arrest. The police on checking his phone found that he had provided all help to Cyriac to escape. The police have also received documents related to this. Cyriac had approached the Kottayam Sessions Court yesterday with an anticipatory bail plea in the case. George Mathew was arrested today when the police were to submit a report opposing the bail application in the court today.
The accident occurred on February 28. The police had issued a lookout circular for Cyriac George yesterday. The Mahindra XUV 700 vehicle driven by Cyriac George of Athirampuzha in Kottayam hit her. He is doing house surgency after completing his MBBS from Chalaka medical College. The visuals of Jasliya falling on the road had emerged. The vehicle did not stop after the accident that occurred at around 7:30 pm.
Jasliya, daughter of Johnson of Kalathiparambil in Edavanakad, was a second-year B.Com student. She was also doing part-time job. The accident happened at Angamaly Telk Junction when she was returning from work.
