Aishwarya Lekshmi is an actress who started her acting career with the Malayalam film Njandukalude Nattil Oridavela. She became widely popular among Malayalam audiences after playing the character Apu, the love interest of Mathan, in the film Mayaanadhi. During that time, Aishwarya Lekshmi was often known for playing bold and modern characters. Films such as Varathan and Vijay Superum Pournamiyum are examples of this phase in her career. Later, films like Archana 31 Not Out and Argentina Fans Kaattoorkadavu helped change her screen image. She also played modern roles in films such as Brother's Day and Kanekkaane.

Aishwarya Lekshmi has since grown into one of the prominent actresses in South Indian cinema. She delivered a notable performance as Poonguzhali in Ponniyin Selvan: I, directed by Mani Ratnam.

Now, the actress has responded to criticism directed at her. Earlier this year, Aishwarya Lekshmi attended the inauguration of an establishment in Chennai, which became widely discussed online. The discussion was mainly about the outfit she wore for the event. The actress had attended the function wearing a strapless, sleeveless dress, which drew criticism on social media.

Speaking about the incident, Aishwarya Lekshmi said it was a fashion misjudgment.

“It was a fashion misjudgment. I was in the middle of shooting for a film and had gained weight for the role. During the shoot, I was injured while filming an action scene, and my face and neck were swollen. I was also very tired at that time. I didn’t prepare at all for the event. I didn’t even try the outfit before wearing it. The fittings were not right either. Some people commented, asking if I had come straight from a shower,” she said.

“After the inauguration, I told my friends about it and we laughed. I don’t mind people saying the outfit looked bad. Anyone can make mistakes,” Aishwarya Lekshmi said in an interview with Grihalakshmi.
