ALAPPUZHA: A live video posted on the Facebook page of senior CPM leader G Sudhakaran without his permission was removed within minutes following a request from his family.

The video was posted by the party's social media team and showed the inauguration of the Perumbalam Bridge, attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The post appeared shortly after Sudhakaran had repeated that he was not interested in reconciling with the party leadership. Once the family noted the post, they asked for it to be removed.

This is not the first time that a video was posted on Sudhakaran's page without his permission. A similar incident happened last year when a video from the anniversary event of the Punnapra-Vayalar Uprising appeared on his page. The family had asked for it to be taken down at that time as well. Sudhakaran had also repeatedly asked that his Facebook account be removed from the party’s live broadcast group, but the request was not implemented.

The live video of the Perumbalam Bridge inauguration appeared at a time when there was curiosity about whether Sudhakaran would attend the function. The bridge project had been started when he was the Public Works Minister. After the live video appeared, speculation began that Sudhakaran might be softening his stance towards the party.

At the same time, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan arrived by helicopter at the Punnapra Engineering College ground, which is located not far from Sudhakaran's house. Police were deployed near Sudhakaran's residence amid speculation that the Chief Minister might visit him. However, the Chief Minister travelled directly along the national highway to the CPM Alappuzha district committee office and later attended the inauguration events.

Sudhakaran praises V Sivankutty In a separate Facebook post, G Sudhakaran congratulated Education Minister V Sivankutty for renaming Paravoor Government Higher Secondary School as “V S Achuthanandan Memorial Government Higher Secondary School.” The school was earlier attended by former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan. Sudhakaran had earlier written to the education minister requesting that the school be renamed in Achuthanandan’s memory.
