Blade in hand, death on mind: Heart-stopping rescue operation at Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: A high-stakes rescue operation unfolded near the Kozhikode Medical College today after a youth attempted suicide by climbing a water tank. The individual, identified as Zainuddin, a native of Manjeri, was eventually brought down following hours of intense negotiation and effort by emergency services.

Zainuddin climbed to the top of the tank armed with stones, glass bottle fragments, and a blade, threatening to take his own life. Despite prolonged attempts by onlookers and local authorities to persuade him to descend voluntarily, he remained defiant.

As the standoff continued, a coordinated team of police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel arrived at the scene. In a decisive move, Fire Force officials scaled the tank and managed to overpower and secure the youth. He was forcibly but safely brought back to the ground.
