KOTTAYAM: The police have arrested ten including the main accused, in the daylight murder case of gangster Aluva Athul in Karunagappally. The arrested are Naufal, Shamnad, Shinu Peter, Mohammed Faisal, Black Vishnu, Anir, Hussain, Aashiq, Adil and Ali Ummer. The police caught the four accused who tried to escape to Tamil Nadu after the murder in a filmy style.

After committing the crime, the team escaped in a car and entered Kottayam at around 8 pm. They reached Karukachal via Manimala and evaded the police. Their aim was to cross the border and reach Tamil Nadu. The team appeared before the police near the Kanjirapally 26th mile junction, but they could not be caught. The police laid a trap for them on the Mundakkayam Bypass Road, but they escaped.

The accused were traveling on the Poonjar-Erumeli state highway without entering the national highway. The police tried to stop the accused's vehicle at Puthanchantha, one kilometer from the town, using a pickup lorry, but failed. From here, they went to the Erumeli route. They reached Amaravathi junction, four kilometres away from Mundakkayam, and took the Punchavayal road on the left to evade police. The police suspected that they would depend on Google Map to reach Tamil Nadu and so created obstacles on the way.

As the details of the vehicle, including the number plate of the vehicle, were circulated on WhatsApp groups in the area, locals also started tracking them down. The suspects turned left from the Amaravati Punchavayal route and reached the small road towards the school when they reached the vehicle and got stuck. Seeing the car coming, locals recognized it and ran to stop them. The police later arrested the four suspects.
